Inspired, custom built bikes made in Scotland.
Shand is an independent bicycle manufacturer located in central Scotland producing steel bicycle frames inspired by Scotland’s roads, trails and mountains. Founded by Steven Shand in 2003, the company now offers a range of steel production frames alongside one-off custom frames built to specific customer requirements.
Production frames are based around three different designs (Road, Allroad and Cyclocross) incorporating Reynlods 853 tubing and are available in five different sizes. All frames are made to order in around 3-4 weeks (depending on the level of demand) and can be finished in a range of six different colour options. Custom paint options and graphics are also available.
Equipped with disc mounts, the frame design also allows clearance for mounting a rack and mudguards. The optional adjustable rear dropouts provide flexibility for fitting either a Rohloff/Alfine hub, derailleur gears or a simple single speed.
Whether bashing out 50 miles along road and trails, or a challenging century or two over a couple of days, the Stoater is all about the pure enjoyment of go-anywhere riding.
The Skinnymalinky (due for launch in the summer of 2012) is designed as a modern randonneur for long days on the road and endurance Audax and reliability events. As such, the frame design will allow for the fitting of mudguards and wider road tyres for winter riding in comfort.
The Stooshie is a no-frills, Reynolds 853 steel cyclocross race frame equipped with discs mounts and massive tyre clearance to keep things rolling on muddy race days. Finishing options are minimal, but custom cable routing and bottle braze ons are available.
Although designed as a cyclocross race bike, the Stooshie’s a good substitute for a mountain bike where the trials don’t demand it, or for riders who enjoy challenging cross-rides on their local roads and trails.
Want to get one? All frames can be ordered online from www.shandcycles.com and are available in a choice of four colours (aqua blue, lichen green, burnt orange, sky grey) with different finishing options for bottle, mudguard and rack mounts at no extra cost.
